excel monster

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Last Saturday was my first visit to the Church after months of absence. I must say that I was kinda rusty. I forgot when to kneel, when to stand up, or what to say during the mass.

Sometimes I wonder if God knows the concept of giving someone a cold shoulder. You see, as humans, we tend to give people a cold shoulder if they come back to be with us after ignoring us for some time. We don’t forgive easily, we want to let them know that we’re hurt first. Does God do the same thing? After all, we’re all created based on His image, right? Probably we’ll know the truth when we die. All will be revealed then.

It’s 3 hours past the end of office hours now, and I’m still in the office. After about 11 hours working with Microsoft Excel, you seem to see people’s faces divided into small boxes filled with numbers & formulas. I guess it’s my cue to fuck it all and go home. Just forget it for a while and continue the battle tomorrow morning.

I hope the Excel monster won’t hide under my bed tonight. I don’t want him to snatch me and bring me to the land of Numbers & Formulas where the prisoners will have to live in tiny boxes and counting endless numbers till they die.

It’s gonna be a long night.

forgettable lille

Captain_park_1Last week’s game at the Stadium of Light was the first United game I missed this season. So, it was understandable if I approached last night’s game with high hopes. I wanted Lille to be slaughtered. I wanted to see tons of goals. I wanted our wingers to claw the French minnows into pieces.

God smiled at me, and gave me none of it.

It was confusing how our system of play didn’t work out very well for European games. It was frustrating to see the lads get bricks after bricks while trying to launch an attack. Last night, it got worse with Scholesy being sent off and the passing going astray.

The only bright spark was provided by "Captain" Park who confidently wore the captain armband after replacing Giggsy. It brought a smile to my face and his 10 minutes involvement provided more action than the previous 80 minutes.

It was just another European night to forget and this Saturday, the resurging Spurs already awaits. Still, I want them to be slaughtered. I want to see tons of goals. I want to see Park & Ronaldo tear them apart. Most of all, I want God to hear me this time.

cake

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

I want to buy a cake, the best money-can-buy cake and I want to give it to the mbak-mbak here for finally successfully delivering my first ever TV Guide AFTER 4 months of subscription. What a very commendable effort! Now, I know their acceptable standard of delivery is 4 months & 2 weeks late. If they beat that standard next month, a bigger cake from me will certainly be on the way.

Oh well. I hope they don’t read blog. I don’t want my ESPN/Star Sports to get scrambled suddenly.

on keano

KeanoSeveral days ago, Keano let out in an interview with MUTV that he thought this season would be his last one with United, and he would like to experience a new changing room outside the Premiership.

The news created a shockwave in the Manchester United universe and seagulls everywhere happily picked up the news as another ammunition to spread out another old story of United demise. Oh, how they love it!

It was initially shocking for me considering I couldn’t see him in other team’s color. I mean he must retire as a Manchester United player, and not as a Glasgow Celtic or some other lesser known team elsewhere. Denial started to creep in telling me that it was just some stunt to negotiate over new contract. But when I actually saw Keano saying it on TV, my heart told me that he was for real. Old Trafford needs to start preparing a huge sending off for him.

The only thing that could make me accept the news was a point mentioned in MUFC list. "We thought that Robbo was irreplaceable, but then we had Keano." It lifted me up a bit considering Alan Smith is giving his heart out to emulate No. 16, and in my opinion, he’s doing great at it.

Eventhough it’ll be a very sad day when Keano eventually says goodbye to us, I really think that we must immediately look forward to the future. Players come & go, but the club moves on. Will his departure mark the end of Fergie’s era? It’s hard to take but it can’t be truer.

Give me a chance to be among the 60,000 people who send you to the sunset, Roy. Please.
